Wrexham head to London Stadium to face West Ham United on Friday night protecting a remarkable record, having avoided defeat in every verified league match they have played in the capital since returning to the EFL in 2023.
The sequence has followed Phil Parkinson’s side through League Two, League One and into the Championship. Six verified league trips to London have produced three wins, three draws and no defeats.
Friday’s 8pm Championship clash provides the latest examination and takes Wrexham somewhere new, with the club making its first competitive visit to London Stadium.
Wrexham remain unbeaten on league trips to London
The run started at Plough Lane in August 2023. Elliot Lee put Wrexham ahead against AFC Wimbledon, before James Tilley’s late penalty earned the hosts a 1-1 draw.
Six months later came the first victory. Will Boyle struck in first-half stoppage time at Sutton United and, after Charlie Lakin equalised, Lee produced an 84th-minute winner to secure a 2-1 success at Gander Green Lane.
Promotion brought a different level of opposition but the London sequence survived. Wrexham played out a goalless draw at Leyton Orient in September 2024 before heading to The Valley a month later.
Parkinson’s men came agonisingly close to another victory there. Andy Cannon put Wrexham 2-1 ahead before Matty Godden converted a stoppage-time penalty as Charlton Athletic rescued a 2-2 draw.
Championship promotion has not stopped the run
Even the step into the Championship has failed to bring a London defeat. Ollie Rathbone scored the only goal when Wrexham won 1-0 at Charlton in February, with Arthur Okonkwo making a superb late save to protect the points.
The most emphatic result arrived last week. Wrexham went to The Den and beat Millwall 3-0, recording their first Championship victory of the new campaign in the process.
Parkinson was particularly pleased with how his players dealt with a difficult away environment, praising their mentality and ability to quieten the home crowd.
That leaves Wrexham with three wins and three draws from six verified London league matches since returning to the Football League. Across three divisions, nobody in the capital has managed to beat them in league competition.
West Ham present biggest London test yet
The next challenge looks considerably different. West Ham await on Friday night, with another sizeable travelling Wrexham support heading for a ground the Reds have never previously visited competitively.
Plough Lane, Gander Green Lane, Brisbane Road, The Valley and The Den have all been negotiated without defeat. London Stadium now provides the latest opportunity for Wrexham to extend one of the more surprising records of their rise through the EFL.
