A Wrexham supporter has restored one of the town’s most recognisable landmarks after vandals defaced the famous Welcome to Wrexham mural.
Local painter Danny Mackreth took it upon himself to bring the artwork back to its former glory after graffiti damage left the mural in a poor state. A previous repair attempt had used the wrong paint, making the problem worse.
Mackreth shared images of the restored mural on social media, explaining he “decided to redo it” after the botched touch-up. He thanked Colour Supplies for donating the paint needed for the project. The post has already attracted nearly 4,000 views and widespread praise from the Wrexham community.

The mural, which features the club’s iconic red dragon crest and the FX branding from the hit documentary series, has become a popular landmark for fans visiting the Racecourse Ground. It serves as a symbol of the town’s pride in both the football club and its growing global profile.
Supporters were quick to show their appreciation. One fan replied “Fair play Dan” while another admitted the damaged artwork “annoyed me every time I walked past.”
The restoration comes as Wrexham prepare for their Championship trip to Ipswich Town on Saturday.
