Wrexham AFC has released a Limited Edition Legends shirt that connects the club’s founding year to direct support for former players, with every design detail reinforcing the Red Dragons’ 161-year history.

The shirt, based on the current 2025/26 Macron home jersey, features a gold embroidered signature from a club legend on the back of the neck. Each one comes in a numbered presentation box, and the club has capped production at exactly 1,864 units.

That number is no coincidence. Wrexham was established in 1864, making it the oldest football club in Wales. The production cap directly references that origin.

It’s a deliberate choice. The club isn’t just selling a special edition shirt. They’re tying scarcity to identity.

Every numbered box reinforces the connection. Fans purchasing the shirt aren’t just buying merchandise. They’re holding a piece of the club’s timeline.

A new fund receives £20 from each sale

The WAFC Former Players Benevolent Fund is a newly created initiative. It supports former Wrexham players who may need financial assistance away from the club.

For every Legends shirt sold, £20 goes directly into that fund. With 1,864 shirts available, the total potential contribution reaches £37,280.

This is the fund’s first major revenue source. The shirt launch doubles as a charitable kickoff.

The gold signature on the neck adds another layer. It’s from a club legend, physically marking the shirt with someone who represented Wrexham at the highest level. The colour stands out against the red fabric, giving it visual distinction alongside the numbered presentation box.

Availability started at 4pm BST

The shirts went on sale online and in-store at 4pm BST. Given the limited run, availability won’t last long and can be purchaseed on the official club website and in-stoor.

Wrexham positioned the release as “a tribute to those who shaped our history.” The details back that up. The number, the signature, and the fund all point in the same direction.

For supporters who want to own a piece of the club’s heritage while supporting former players, this shirt delivers on both.
