Phil Parkinson will take charge of Wrexham for the 250th time today cementing his place among the club’s most successful managers.
The 58-year-old has recently overtaken Arfon Griffiths to become the fifth manager in Wrexham’s history to reach the milestone. Parkinson was appointed at The Racecourse in July 2021 and has delivered three promotions in that time.
His achievement comes at a time when managerial stability has become increasingly rare in English football. Parkinson is currently the longest serving manager in the Championship and sixth in the entire 92-club EFL structure.
Elite company on all-time list
Parkinson’s 250th match moves him into fifth place on Wrexham’s all-time managerial list. He has surpassed Griffiths, who led the club across two spells in the 1970s and early 1980s.

Numbers prove exceptional record
The statistics behind Parkinson’s tenure make for impressive reading. In his first 200 league matches, he recorded 119 victories, giving him a win rate of 59.5%.
Wrexham have claimed 405 points from the 600 available under his stewardship in league competition. That equates to an average of 2.025 points per game, a figure that reflects the consistency of his sides.
The tangible results speak for themselves. Three successive promotions have taken Parkinson’s side from the National League to the Championship, a journey completed in less than four years.
Rare stability in modern game
Parkinson’s status as the Championship’s longest serving manager highlights the trust shown in him by owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney. His four-year tenure stands out in an era of frequent managerial changes.

“I am pleased with the milestone and the points return over that period. I think the consistency of the performances has been strong across the divisions and I am looking forward to continuing it.”
Strong position heading into landmark fixture
Sunday’s milestone match comes with Wrexham well placed in their maiden Championship campaign. The Reds sit 10th in the table, just three points away from the play-off positions.
Recent form has been encouraging, with Parkinson’s side unbeaten in eight league matches as they head into the second half of the season. The manager has celebrated over 1,000 matches in management spanning more than two decades.
As Parkinson prepares for his 250th match in charge, the numbers tell the story of a manager who has transformed Wrexham’s fortunes. Few would have predicted such sustained success when he arrived in north Wales in the summer of 2021, but the evidence of his impact is there for all to see.
