Welcome to Wrexham has introduced supporters to plenty of memorable characters over the years, but Season 5 may already have produced one of its most unexpected fan favourites.
The opening episodes of the new series have generated discussion for several reasons, from Wrexham’s Championship challenge to the pressure facing Phil Parkinson and his squad.
Yet one of the biggest talking points has come from away from the dressing room, the boardroom and even the pitch itself.
Instead, supporters have been left talking about Trina, a cleaner at Wrexham AFC whose brutally honest assessment of the club quickly became one of the standout moments of the new season.
Wrexham fans loved Trina’s no-nonsense verdict
Trina appeared during the opening episodes of Season 5 and immediately caught viewers’ attention with her candid personality and unmistakable sense of humour.
Discussing one of Wrexham’s performances, she offered a blunt verdict that quickly began circulating among supporters online.
Speaking in a clip later shared by WrexhamFX, Trina said: “QPR deserved the win yesterday… we were shit. I’ve got to say it, we were absolute shit.”
It was exactly the sort of unfiltered honesty that many supporters immediately connected with.
For fans who have spent years watching the highs and lows of Wrexham, there was something refreshingly familiar about hearing a local voice say exactly what many were already thinking.
Supporters are already demanding more Trina
The reaction to Trina’s appearance has been overwhelmingly positive across social media.
Under WrexhamFX’s Instagram clip, supporters flooded the comments section with praise for what many described as one of the funniest moments in Welcome to Wrexham history.
One fan wrote: “Please, put her in every single episode”, while another said: “WHY has it taken 5 seasons for us to discover Trina?!”
Several viewers focused on her unforgettable one-liner, with one supporter commenting: “That’s gotta be the best line I’ve ever heard on TV in my life.”
Another added: “One line that will stay in my head for life”, while a different fan described it as “one of the greatest one-liners ever.”
The enthusiasm was not limited to Wrexham supporters either. Hulu replied: “That escalated quickly”, while Vernon Kay jokingly suggested: “New Radio2 breakfast host!!”
Perhaps the strongest reaction came from viewers calling for more appearances. One supporter wrote: “Give this lady more airtime”, while another joked that Trina should be allowed to join Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney in the VIP section during matches.

Others went even further. “We want a spin-off series. She is the main character,” wrote one viewer, while another added: “Watching this show just for Trina.”
For a series that has featured Hollywood owners, promotion celebrations and major footballing moments, it takes something special for a cleaner to become one of the most talked-about figures of a new season. Yet that is exactly what has happened.
Why the moment matters
One of the reasons Welcome to Wrexham has resonated with audiences around the world is that it has never been solely about football.
The documentary regularly shines a light on the people who make the club and the town what they are.
That includes supporters, volunteers, local businesses and staff members who would rarely feature in a traditional football documentary.
Trina’s popularity is another example of that formula working perfectly.
While viewers tune in for Ryan Reynolds, Rob McElhenney and Wrexham’s remarkable rise, they often stay for the stories that feel authentic to the town itself.
One fan even admitted:
This was the clip that made me watch the entire thing. Up the town. Up the Trina.
That reaction perhaps says more than anything else. Trina’s appearance was only a small part of the episode, but it captured exactly the sort of authenticity that has helped Welcome to Wrexham become much more than a football documentary.
An early contender for Season 5’s breakout star
There are still plenty of episodes left in Season 5 and no shortage of major storylines to come.
But if fan reaction is anything to go by, Trina has already secured her place among the most memorable characters of the series.
One viewer called her “a legend”, another said they were “obsessed”, while multiple supporters demanded a spin-off centred entirely around her.
For a club that prides itself on community and authenticity, perhaps it is fitting that one of Welcome to Wrexham’s biggest early stars is someone who works behind the scenes rather than under the spotlight.
And judging by the reaction from supporters, viewers would not complain if Trina appeared a little more often before the season is over.
