McElhenney and Reynolds have explained the reasons behind their decision to have Firefox as their new main front of short sponsor, citing how the browser has the same underdog mentality that has driven their club’s incredible success so far.

Rob and Ryan addressed their fans through a letter published alongside Wrexham’s announcement that Firefox will be partnering with the club starting from 2026/27 as their new front-of-kit sponsor and Official Web Browser Partner.

Although this partnership will bring another big deal in terms of business for the Championship club, it appears that there is more to choosing the right partners.

McElhenney and Reynolds explain Firefox decision

In their message to supporters, the pair said commercial partnerships play a vital role in helping Wrexham continue progressing on and off the pitch.

“We’ve learned that who we partner with is just as important as who we sign to play.”

They added that the search for a new principal partner had now come to an end before joking that it “was a super fast and highly optimized search because our new partner is Firefox!”

The announcement confirms Firefox will feature on the front of Wrexham’s shirts throughout the 2026/27 season as part of a new multi-year agreement.

Why Firefox stood out

McElhenney and Reynolds said Firefox’s position within the technology industry mirrored Wrexham’s own journey in football.

“Like Wrexham, they’re underdogs.”

The co-chairmen said Firefox may not be “the biggest or richest in their field” but praised the company for taking on larger competitors “with integrity, innovation, and a commitment to people over profit.”

This way of thinking is what makes Firefox the perfect candidate to be Wrexham’s new principle sponsor as the team prepares for its first season in the Championship for over forty years.

Supporters given first glimpse of announcement

The letter went along with a teaser on social media about how Firefox would be the new front-of-kit sponsor for Wrexham, as the club teasingly kept the new jersey hidden, only to later disclose that the kit will be unveiled shortly after.

McElhenney and Reynolds were looking forward to their collaboration and stated how excited they were to “tell our stories together” and serve both communities of fans.

The letter finished off with another subtle hint about the Firefox brand.

“That’s right, a red panda. Firefox it.”

The agreement represents another major commercial milestone for Wrexham as preparations continue for the 2026/27 Championship campaign.
