Wrexham AFC have received planning approval for an additional 2,250 seats in the new Kop Stand, paving the way for the Racecourse Ground to eventually hold more than 18,000 supporters.
Wrexham County Borough Council’s Planning Committee approved the club’s application on Monday, October 5, having initially submitted the plans in July 2025.
The extra seats would form a second tier of the new Kop, increasing its potential capacity to 7,750. The original 5,500-seat proposal was approved in March 2025.
Crucially, the additional capacity can be delivered within the approved footprint and design of the new stand.
Wrexham believe the larger Kop will help meet the considerable demand for home tickets while future-proofing the Racecourse Ground as a venue capable of staging international football.
The club’s application also included an updated Travel Plan to address the impact of increased attendances.
Supporters will continue to be encouraged to use public transport on matchdays, including bus and rail services, alongside existing park and ride schemes and free matchday parking at Eagles Meadow.
The decision represents another important step in the redevelopment of the historic Racecourse, with a 7,750-seat Kop set to take the overall capacity beyond 18,000.
