Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson has confirmed striker Kieffer Moore will miss the upcoming international break after scans revealed a tendon injury suffered during the clubâs FA Cup defeat to Chelsea earlier this month.
The 33-year-old forward is expected to remain sidelined for longer than expected, meaning he will not feature for Wales in their upcoming World Cup play-off fixtures.
Moore has been one of Wrexhamâs most important players this season, scoring 13 goals in 36 appearances across all competitions as Parkinsonâs side push for promotion in the Championship.
Phil Parkinson confirms Kieffer Moore injury details
Mooreâs injury occurred during Wrexhamâs 4-2 extra-time FA Cup defeat to Chelsea on March 7.
The striker completed the match but later experienced tightness, with scans revealing a small split in his hamstring tendon.
Parkinson explained the issue when speaking about the strikerâs condition:
âKieffer’s not going to be right for the internationals, which is a blow for him and for Wales,” said Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson.
“He’s got this tendon injury which he feels OK with, but he’s shown up on the scan and it’s one of those injuries that, up to 80-85% you’re fine, but if you extend beyond that you make yourself susceptible to muscle injuries.,â via BBC Sport.
The manager confirmed Moore will not recover in time for Walesâ international fixtures this month.
Moore set to miss Wales World Cup play-offs
The injury means Moore will miss Walesâ World Cup play-off semi-final against Bosnia and Herzegovina on March 26.
If Wales win that match in Cardiff, they will face either Italy or Northern Ireland in the decisive play-off final five days later.
Moore has been a regular international performer for Wales and his absence represents a blow ahead of the crucial qualification matches.
Wrexham promotion push continues
While Mooreâs international absence is confirmed, Wrexham will hope the striker can return in time to influence the final weeks of the Championship campaign.
Parkinsonâs side currently sit sixth in the table with nine matches remaining in the season as they chase promotion to the Premier League.
Mooreâs physical presence and goals have been central to Wrexhamâs campaign, with the striker leading the clubâs scoring charts during the 2025-26 season.
Cacace also sidelined after injury setbacks
Parkinson also provided an update on wing-back Liberato Cacace, who will miss international duty with New Zealand due to ongoing injury setbacks.
The 25-year-old has endured a stop-start debut season since joining Wrexham from Empoli and has been limited to a small number of appearances in the Championship.
The manager said the focus remains on helping Cacace return before the end of the campaign rather than rushing his recovery.
With the season entering its final stretch, Wrexham will hope both players can return soon as the club continues its push for promotion.
