In one of the most iconic displays during Wrexham’s National League promotion campaign, Paul Mullin scored two late goals during stoppage time to help secure an enthralling 3-2 win over Stockport County at Edgeley Park on 2 April 2022.
After falling behind 2-1 at the start of stoppage time, chances of securing anything out of a highly important game were fading fast.
But Mullin soon turned matters around.
First, he equalised in the 91st minute with a goal of exceptional quality before going on to produce an even more impressive effort that sealed a stunning comeback which had the travelling Wrexham fans in shock.
The comeback was indeed a turning point in a season full of twists and turns. Although Wrexham were forced to endure another year in the National League, the last-minute heroics served to cement the reputation that Mullin earned of coming through for his team during crunch moments.

It was further evidence of why he so quickly became a cult figure at the club. He never looked intimidated by big occasions and very few Wrexham players have provided as many special moments as he has wearing the famous red and white stripes.
