Before Wrexham unveil their new 2026/27 kits, last year’s Patagonia trailer still remains unmatched

The shirt was class, but the story made it special 🔥

The Wrexham AFC team is preparing to launch new kits before the 2026/27 season begins, but their third kit teaser themed on Patagonia from last year remains their crowning achievement when it comes to the proper execution of the event.

With all the excitement surrounding a kit launch these days, with teasers scattered throughout social media and sponsors’ logos plastered all over, people find it hard to ignore what’s going on. But this particular kit launch went against the trend by providing more than just new designs.

This 2025/26 third kit launch became much more than that; it became a Welsh tale that goes beyond the Racecourse Ground.

Wrexham found the perfect story for a third kit

The trailer for the 2025/26 third kit used the phrase “For Y Wladfa.” and marked 160 years since 153 Welshmen sailed to Patagonia to keep their traditions alive.

This might easily might have turned into just another throw away slogan, but instead the club, Macron, and United managed to create something special, including choirs from Wales and Patagonia singing “Yma O Hyd” and connecting club’s growth to the centuries-old Welsh heritage.

It is not surprising considering how thoughtful the shirt design was. Macron spoke about shirt inspired by Patagonia, which had light blue and white hoops with dragon motives, as well as red dragon on the neck area along with the slogan “Don’t forget where you came from.”

That is what made the launch so successful.

The reaction said everything

The fans did not take it in just as yet another kit drop. There were comments coming in from Wales, Argentina, Patagonia, and everywhere else, with lots of people obviously touched by the way Welsh culture had been honored.

One such fan was Nanci Jones from Rawson in Chubut, who stated that she was part of the Patagonian choir featured in the video and was a descendant of the very first Welsh immigrants to come to Patagonia aboard the ship Mimosa. Her comment ended in exactly the same way as the trailer itself – with “YMA o HYD”.

Other fans called it “a touching gesture of acknowledgement of the Welsh culture in Patagonia”, with people from Trelew, Gaiman, and Argentina sending their proud comments.

And there was a reason for all of this emotional response, as United’s campaign materials introduced the shirt in terms of the 160th anniversary of Welsh people settling in Patagonia.

Why it will take some beating

The cycle of 2026/27 Wrexham shirts is almost complete, with Firefox announced as the front-of-shirt sponsor of the club for several years to come.

This will certainly add an interesting commercial dimension to the upcoming releases, and the fans will naturally be excited to see how the shirts will look. The thing is that the last year’s trailer of the third kit was not just successful marketing.

It captured exactly who Wrexham are. Not just another football club, but also a Welsh institution which now speaks much louder than the people from the Racecourse had ever dreamt about.

The ESPN praised the design, but it was not even in the shirt that the magic of that campaign lay. It was all about making the fans in north Wales and descendants in Patagonia feel connected to the same history.

There will be other kits in the future, and there will be some very good ones. Nevertheless, right before the 2026/27 season kicks off, one should say without any hesitation that Wrexham’s Patagonia third kit trailer may never be beaten.
