Wrexham AFC will fund around £50 million of a near £70 million redevelopment of the Kop Stand at the Racecourse Ground, with full cost details confirmed in financial disclosures published in March 2026.
The figures reveal the scale of the project as the club prepares for life in the Championship, placing infrastructure at the centre of its long-term strategy.
The agreement confirms Wrexham have committed to one of the most significant stadium investments in their history.
Details reported by The Leader show a contract worth £69,290,363 was signed on December 5 with McLaren Construction to build the new Kop.
The same report outlines how external funding reduces the club’s direct contribution.
The true cost of the Kop project
A Grant Funding Agreement of £17.35 million has been secured towards the redevelopment, leaving Wrexham to cover close to £50 million of the total cost.

This represents a major financial commitment as the club invests in long-term growth at the Racecourse Ground.
Additional spending has also been required to support the development.
The club completed the purchase of land from Wrexham University for £480,000 and agreed terms on a further £525,000 acquisition.
Stadium expansion central to strategy
The redevelopment of the Kop remains a key part of Wrexham’s long-term planning.
Plans for a 5,500-seat stand have already been approved, with a further application submitted to increase capacity to around 7,500.
If approved, the overall capacity at the Racecourse Ground would rise to just over 18,000.
This expansion is expected to support future growth through increased ticketing, hospitality and major event opportunities.
Investment comes alongside financial growth
The infrastructure project comes during a period of rapid financial expansion for the club.
Latest Wrexham AFC accounts show turnover rising to £33.33 million for the year ending June 2025.
That growth has been accompanied by increased spending, reflecting the cost of promotion and continued investment across the club.
The Kop redevelopment highlights the scale of Wrexham’s ambition as it builds for the future in the Championship.
