Wrexham appear to remove controversial 2026/27 anthem jacket from official club store

Wrexham's controversial anthem jacket appears to have disappeared from the club's online store just days after supporters criticised its white dragon crest. Here's what we've found. πŸ”΄πŸ‰

It seems like Wrexham have already taken down the newly released 2026/27 anthem jacket from their online shop only days after being ridiculed by fans over the white dragon emblem on the garment. Links that used to lead to the product page when searched on Google take fans to the online shop homepage.

The 2026/27 anthem jacket was immediately ridiculed by fans who found out that it had a white version of the dragon emblem while traditionally it is supposed to be red.

As at the time of writing, a search for the anthem jacket still yields Google results pointing to the store page. However, clicking on these links will redirect users to the Wrexham AFC online store homepage rather than the page of the product itself.

White dragon jacket appears to have been discontinued

While Wrexham has not confirmed whether or not the jacket has been discontinued from production, it is not clear whether the jacket has just been temporarily discontinued, is sold out, or whether it has been discontinued permanently.

Supporters questioned the decision to use a white dragon on the jacket, with one writing: “The Dragon of Cymru is Red. The Saes Dragon is white. Product needs recalling.”

Another supporter posted: “Need to rethink whoever is passing designs and products as this is not working.”

Others described the design as “embarrassing”, arguing the club had missed an important piece of Welsh symbolism.

Backlash centred on the white dragon

The criticism has been aimed at the jacket instead of Wrexham’s 2026/27 away kit, in which the red crest is preserved.

Historically, the red dragon is the symbol of the Britons whereas the white one belonged to the Saxons that invaded the country. This prompted many fans to ask why a white dragon had appeared on the club’s merchandise.

The jacket had been marketed as part of the latest collection of the club’s products until people criticized it on the Internet. No statement from the club regarding the situation has been released yet – the product seems to be removed from the official shop of the club.

Without a clarifying statement from the club, we cannot tell whether the anthem jacket has been officially discontinued. However, for the time being, the item has become inaccessible through the club’s online shop even though it still appears in the search results of Google.
