Wrexham AFC has confirmed a significant update to the STōK Cae Ras.
The club has announced that rail seating will be fitted in the upper section of the STōK Cold Brew Coffee Stand after the fixture against Leicester City on Tuesday, January 20.
The installation is scheduled for completion ahead of Wrexham’s next home match against Millwall on Saturday, February 7.
The initiative was first outlined in May and has since been developed in consultation with the club’s Safety Advisory Group (SAG). The group includes representatives from the local council, emergency services and other key partners.
Rail seating introduced to enhance supporter safety
A Wrexham AFC spokesperson said:
“It is important to note that, at least until the end of the 2025/26 season, the club’s stadium license will continue to be for an all-seater stadium.
“This means supporters will still be expected to remain seated for the majority of the match, with standing only anticipated at key moments such as goal celebrations and significant match incidents.
“This should be consistent with how supporters already experience matches, but allows those moments to take place in a safer and more controlled way.”
All installation and matchday operations will comply with governing body standards.
When installed to official safety specifications, rail seating will not affect visibility from the stands. The design allows clear sightlines for fans whether seated or standing.
The club has reiterated that the STōK Cae Ras will continue to operate as an all-seater venue for the remainder of the 2025/26 campaign. Supporters are reminded to stay seated for most of the game to help maintain a positive experience for everyone inside the ground.
The upgrade is intended to improve safety during short periods of standing, such as goal celebrations.
The club said:
“If you have any questions about how the installation of rail seating will affect your matchday experience, please email us.”
Wrexham AFC has also responded to feedback from season ticket holders who may not be able to stand. While the club does not currently have the capacity to move all supporters wishing to avoid areas fitted with rail seating, fans are encouraged to contact the ticket office if they feel the change could affect their experience on matchdays.
Each request will be reviewed individually, with further relocation options to be explored over the summer.
