Arthur Okonkwo is celebrating his 25th birthday and Wrexham have marked the occasion for a player who remains under contract with the club despite spending the current season on loan at Charlton Athletic.
The Reds posted a message on their official social media channels, acknowledging a goalkeeper closely associated with the club’s rapid rise through the EFL.
Okonkwo, now on loan at Championship side Charlton, is still tied to Wrexham until the summer of 2027.
Arthur Okonkwo turns 25
Born on 9 September 2001, Okonkwo first joined Wrexham on loan from Arsenal in September 2023 and quickly established himself as Phil Parkinson’s first-choice goalkeeper.
His debut season in North Wales ended with promotion from League Two, while his performances also earned him the EFL League Two Goalkeeper of the Season award.
Following his departure from Arsenal, Wrexham moved to sign him permanently, handing the goalkeeper a three-year deal in June 2024.
Okonkwo remained a familiar figure between the posts as the club continued its progress through the divisions.

The goalkeeping picture changed this summer and Okonkwo completed a season-long loan move to Charlton Athletic on 20 August.
The switch gives the 25-year-old an opportunity to play regular Championship football while remaining contracted to Wrexham, with his current deal running until the end of the 2026/27 campaign.
That makes his position an interesting one. He may be wearing Charlton colours this season, but Wrexham’s birthday message is another reminder of the goalkeeper’s connection to the club.
Promotion hero played his part in Wrexham’s rise
Few players have experienced Wrexham’s recent progress quite like Okonkwo. He arrived with the Reds newly promoted back into the Football League and soon became a trusted option for Parkinson.
His first season brought promotion and individual recognition before Wrexham secured his return permanently following the expiry of his Arsenal contract.
The goalkeeper then remained part of the group as Wrexham continued their climb, building a strong connection with supporters along the way.
Now 25 and spending the campaign with Charlton, attention will eventually turn towards what comes next for Okonkwo as his Wrexham contract moves towards its final months.
For today, though, Wrexham have kept things simple by recognising the birthday of a goalkeeper who has already shared some memorable moments with the Reds.
