Elliot Lee has left Wrexham after four years at the Cae Ras, ending a spell on 1 September 2026 that saw him make 152 appearances, score 41 goals and play his part in three consecutive promotions from the National League to the Championship.
Those raw numbers only scratch the surface of his impact. Lee did not simply come along for the ride as Wrexham rose through the divisions, he repeatedly delivered the moments that made the climb possible.
From his two-goal debut against Eastleigh to decisive contributions in the 2022-23 title run-in, Lee quickly became one of Phil Parkinson’s most trusted attacking options.
Elliot Lee made his mark immediately at Wrexham
Lee joined in the summer of 2022 and wasted no time making an impression, coming off the bench to score twice in a 2-1 opening-day win over Eastleigh. By the end of that season, he had 15 goals in all competitions and a place in the National League Team of the Year.
His goals often came when they mattered most. He hit the winner in the unforgettable 3-2 victory over title rivals Notts County in April 2023, then headed Wrexham level against Boreham Wood in the 3-1 win that sealed promotion and ended the club’s 15-year stay outside the EFL.
Wrexham finished with a record 111 points. Lee had arrived hoping to help get the club out of non-league, and within one season, that job was done.
Lee kept delivering as Wrexham climbed the EFL
Promotion did not slow him down. Lee scored 16 times across all competitions in 2023-24 as Wrexham went straight through League Two, earning selection in both the EFL League Two Team of the Season and the PFA Team of the Year.
The following season brought another step up and another promotion. Lee finished as Wrexham’s top scorer with nine goals, including a remarkable effort directly from a corner against Burton Albion to secure a 1-0 win in December.
By the end of that campaign, Wrexham had climbed from the fifth tier to the Championship in just three seasons. Lee contributed 40 goals across those three promotion campaigns, a remarkable return from midfield during a period when the demands only increased.
Numbers explain why Lee’s Wrexham legacy will last
The Championship finally brought a change. Lee made just three Wrexham appearances in 2025-26 before moving to Doncaster Rovers on loan in February.
His contract was terminated by mutual consent on 1 September 2026. That ending should not overshadow what came before.
Squad changes were inevitable as Wrexham climbed higher, but Lee had already cemented his place in the club’s modern history by playing his part at every stage of an unprecedented three-promotion run.
His farewell message captured that sense of pride.
