Wrexham AFC have given fans a fresh look at the Kop redevelopment, posting a video that shows the walk from the bottom to the top of the new stand taking shape at the Racecourse Ground.
The footage offers a first glimpse of the view that will greet supporters when the famous end of the ground reopens.
Supporters imagine matchday from the new Kop
As the camera moves up through the unfinished stand, the height and the sweeping view over the pitch highlight just how big the project is. While it’s still very much a construction site, fans are already picturing what it’ll be like when the Kop is packed out on matchdays.
“Will be incredible to have open,” wrote Wrexham Fan (@WrexhamFan3), while Ohmastico (@KenganRyu) kept it simple: “Fantastic view!!!”
Some were focused on the climb itself. Jayfuz (@Jayfuz) joked: “My legs hurt just watching this 😭”
For KING OxyLig (@KingOxyLig), it was about a personal goal: “Someday I will walk it”. And Ash (@Ash_GW) brought a bit of matchday humour: “POV: Ben Whiteman looking around for a pass before just giving it back to the keeper anyway.”
The comments reflect a mix of anticipation and the kind of humour Wrexham supporters are known for online.
A bigger Kop for a growing club
The redevelopment is about far more than just the view. The project, expected to cost around £70 million, is designed to restore the Racecourse Ground to a four-sided stadium and increase capacity for the growing fanbase.
After planning approval in October for an extra 2,250 seats, the new Kop is set to hold 7,750 spectators. That would push the stadium’s overall capacity past 18,000, a big step for a club whose rise through the leagues has seen ticket demand soar.
When will Wrexham’s new Kop open?
The current aim is to have the stand open by the start of the 2027/28 season. That’s the working timeline for now, though there’s still a lot to do before it’s ready.
While the project is far from finished, the latest walkthrough video has helped fans imagine what’s coming: a four-sided Racecourse Ground, a rebuilt Kop full of supporters, and a view that already looks worth the wait.
