Wrexham co-owner Ryan Reynolds has appeared with Hugh Jackman in a new video shared on Tuesday, June 2, while filming on the water with the BONDS Flying Roos SailGP Team for a Disney+ docuseries.
The moment is not directly connected to Wrexham AFC, but it will still interest supporters who follow Reynolds closely. His work in sport now stretches beyond football, while his role at the Racecourse remains central to his public profile.
Reynolds has become one of the most recognisable figures linked to Ryan Reynolds and Wrexham AFC. This latest appearance shows him alongside Jackman in another sports documentary setting, this time around sailing rather than football.
Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman appear in SailGP video
The video, shared by Reynolds on Instagram, shows himself and Jackman taking part in an Australian drinking tradition known as a shoey. Jackman, who was born in Sydney, poured beer into a sneaker before drinking it as members of the sailing team chanted in the background.
Reynolds then took his turn, with the article noting that he appeared less keen than Jackman. After both had finished, Jackman joked: “Drink responsibly!”
Reynolds also captioned his Instagram post by describing the day with the BONDS Flying Roos and Jackman as an “insane privilege” to document for Disney+. He added: “Maybe not the shoey. But definitely do the rest.”
New Disney+ series follows BONDS Flying Roos
The pair are filming a new, untitled Disney+ docuseries about the BONDS Flying Roos SailGP Team. Reynolds and Jackman bought the Australian professional sailing team last year.
Disney+ announced the series on May 29. It will follow a global racing season featuring identical 50-foot catamarans racing close to shore at speeds of up to 100 km/h.
Reynolds and Jackman said the project was their first collaboration since Deadpool & Wolverine. They said they expected “action, comedy, heart but with a lot more water.”
Wrexham link remains measured
There is no direct football development in the video, and it should not be framed as one. The Wrexham angle is simple and factual.
Reynolds remains closely associated with Rob McElhenney, Racecourse Ground and the documentary era that widened the club’s audience. His latest project shows another example of his work at the meeting point between sport, entertainment and storytelling.
The new series will be available internationally on Disney+ and on Disney+ and Hulu in the United States. For Wrexham fans, it is another reminder that Reynolds’ wider sporting profile continues to grow while the club remains the foundation of his best known sports ownership story.
