The new digital ticketing system introduced at Wrexham football club has rasied questions about whether fans will be able to transfer their tickets to a friend if they can’t attend a game. The quick answer is yes, but not through sending screenshots.
Questions have been raised online regarding the new ticketing system with some fans questioning whether transferring of tickets has been stopped all together.
Fortunately for fans, transfers should still be available where the club allows them.
Why screenshots of your ticket no longer work
Most ticketing systems now rely on dynamic digital tickets instead of using QR code or barcode stickers.
Your ticket barcode will change every single time you open your ticket, providing more security for your ticket and ensuring that there is no fraud associated with your ticket.
Hence, even if you share your ticket screenshot with others, it is highly unlikely that they will be able to use your ticket because your barcode on the screen will not be valid anymore.
However, if you do not want to watch the match yourself, you should transfer your ticket using the official transferring function if it is available for the match.
During transferring, the original ticket becomes invalid and is replaced with the new ticket on the other person’s ticket account. Thus, there is only one ticket that can be used.
Usually, the receiver needs an account on the same ticketing system to receive the ticket.
Ticket transfers need to be made through the ticketing website only, since other formats will not function in the updated system.
If you have the intention to transfer your ticket for this season, it is advisable that you make sure that your friend has signed up already prior to the day of the game.
