Wrexham’s new Firefox front-of-shirt sponsorship could be worth some serious cash, according to football finance expert Kieran Maguire.

This is just another indication of the increasing commercial success that Wrexham is experiencing under the leadership of Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds. Firefox was announced to be the sponsor of the Wrexham team in the coming 2026/27 season on 8 July.

The sponsorship deal could be another key move in Wrexham’s commercial strategy. The official worth of the deal has not yet been revealed and therefore the valuation provided by Kieran Maguire is just an estimate.

Maguire explains potential Firefox value

Maguire discussed the sponsorship in a video clip published by Fearless In Devotion. He believes the agreement reflects the international audience Wrexham have developed under their co-chairmen.

“Wrexham have a new front of shirt sponsor, indicative of the global reach of the club.

“This deal is estimated to be worth at least £10m, potentially up to £20m if they get promoted and more if they get into Europe. Got to give Rob and Ryan huge credit.

“Front of shirt deals in the Championship are normally in the hundreds of thousands, sometimes tens of thousands.”

According to Maguire, the sponsorship deal is reflective of the global fan base that has been created by Wrexham under their co-chairmen.

Firefox partnership reflects Wrexham’s reach

This deal includes the three home and away strips for both men and women’s teams. This deal sheds more light on the reason behind Firefox deciding to support the team of Wrexham.

The agreement has been officially made by the club of Wrexham AFC. McElhenney and Reynolds viewed the teams of Wrexham and Firefox as challengers who would challenge the big names in the sport.

“We are thrilled to welcome Firefox as our new front-of-kit partner. We love an underdog story and both Wrexham and Firefox know the feeling of having to battle giants.”

The partnership comes after years of fast expansion of finances in Wrexham’s football club. The growth has helped the development of the club while increasing its attractiveness to foreign partners.

Owners earn credit for commercial growth

According to BBC Sport, in the accounts for the year ending June 2024, Wrexham has shown turnover of £26.7 million where commercial revenue makes up to £13.18 million.

These numbers do not include the Firefox partnership but show that commercial platform is strong enough. This information also helps to better understand Maguire’s opinion about how extraordinary valuation could be placed on the new contract.

Wrexham’s increasing audience is always crucial to the global plans of the owners. Now the club can provide huge partners with exposure outside of North Wales and Championship.

Maguire’s estimation is not the official valuation of the club, but it illustrates how significantly Wrexham’s commercial position has been changed.
