Elliot Lee’s emotional message after the car crash that once happened on way home from a Wrexham game

Wrexham fans feared the worst when Elliot Lee was involved in a horrific car crash. His emotional message afterwards, "In the blink of an eye everything can change", put football into perspective. It's a story that still resonates with supporters today.

There was serious concern amongst Wrexham fans due to an accident that occurred to Elliot Lee in a car on February 11, 2025.

Lee was heading back home after winning the Vertu Trophy against Bolton Wanderers, when he had an accident.

It was later confirmed by Wrexham that Elliot Lee did not suffer from any serious injuries.

‘In the blink of an eye everything can change’

Lee later spoke publicly about the incident and the perspective it had given him.

He wrote:

“Last Tuesday night I found out just how fragile life is.”

Lee also indicated that things can change very quickly and dramatically through no fault of your own.

He also thanked the emergency services, fans and everyone else who had been sending him supportive messages.

The pictures Lee posted showed the magnitude of the accident and made clear as to why the supporters were worried about him.

Lee did not play in Wrexham’s next match against Northampton Town. But the good news was that he was not seriously hurt.

Any other injuries and time out Lee had during 2025 had nothing to do with the accident including an injury on his knee later that year.

Lee became the central player in the team’s promotion from the National League to the Championship within three consecutive seasons.

However, the accident showed what football means. Lee’s message was not related to results, statistics or any other personal things.

It was a reminder that life can change unexpectedly and why health, family and life outside football should be the priorities.

For Wrexham supporters, the main thing was that one of their favourite players was not seriously hurt.
